Literacy Advance Profiled in National Giving Library Project

The Giving Library, an innovation of the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, offers philanthropists a new way to enhance their strategic charitable giving. Donors can explore the online archive of video interviews to locate, study, compare and engage with hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the country.

The Giving Library also serves nonprofit organizations by enhancing donor access through a compelling medium, increasing overall visibility, and providing an opportunity to learn about peer organizations across the country.

Literacy Advance is excited and honored to have been chosen to be part of this project, one of just three community-based literacy organizations chosen from across the United States. In the Literacy Advance video entry, Executive Director Melanie Fisk outlines the need for literacy services in Houston, and the significant difference increased literacy can make for adults, their families, and the wider community.

A further question and answer section addresses questions such as the origins of the agency, common misconceptions about literacy, and future planning.

We hope that all friends of Literacy Advance - be they volunteers, donors or other supporters - will share the video with their networks and spread the word about the literacy cause in Houston!
