Literacy Advance Closed for Memorial Day

closed signLiteracy Advance will be CLOSED for Memorial Day on:

Saturday, May 26 and

Monday, May 28.

There will be NO classes on those days - please don't come to class!

The Wilcrest office will open again on Tuesday, May 29 at 8am.

Please turn your cell phone off

cell phone banPlease turn your cell phone OFF while you are at Literacy Advance.

If you need to talk, please go outside the office.

Please do NOT talk on your phone in the foyer, in the hall, or in the classrooms. It is noisy and disrupts others.

Computer classes

computer classesChristian Community Service Center has workshops and computer classes several times throughout the month. To see the schedule, check the Student Information Board.

SER - Jobs for Progress has a computer class starting in April. If you complete the class (100 hours) you will get a University of Houston Microsoft Office certificate for your resume. The class costs $40, but if this is a problem for you, talk to Buddy - he may be able to help you pay for the class. For more information, see the Student Information Board.

Help with citizenship applications

citizenship ceremonyThe Chinese Community Center can help people with Citizenship Applications (form N-400).

They can also help submit a fee waiver to help you pay for the application.

If you qualify, they can refer you to an immigration attorney who can give you advice and information.
