Literacy Advance student named Literacy Texas Adult Learner of the Year
Paulina Sais, Literacy Advance ESL student and volunteer, has been selected as the Literacy Texas Adult Learner of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes Paulina's dedication to her own learning, as well as her commitment to "give back" to the agency in the form of volunteering.
Paulina celebrates her win with Literacy Advance staff and interns
As one of our most dedicated Family Literacy presenters, Paulina has both shared her love of literacy with others, and assisted Literacy Advance, over the last two years at schools all over Houston.
Nominations for the Adult Learner of the Year award are submitted from organizations across the state of Texas, and Literacy Advance was delighted to hear the news of Paulina's success. The selection committee looked at factors such as evidence of sharing learning with other learners, evidence of “giving back” to provider, and goals achieved.
This last factor was particularly worth celebrating for Paulina, as she heard news of her successful selection on the same day she found out that she had gotten a job in her main area of expertise, education. She will start her new teaching position in the fall.
Literacy Advance congratulates Paulina, and thanks Literacy Texas for this great award!
